When couples as adorable as Desiree and Jake contact me to schedule an engagement session I get so excited to meet up with them. Leading up to their session we were in touch figuring out a location for their pictures. We also talked about outfit ideas for them to wear. They wanted a casual feel for their session so their outfit choices were about being comfortable and relaxed. We chose a location that offers a mix of hardwoods and open grassy areas. Alpena has a unique sanctuary called Sportsmen’s Island, probably one of the most popular places for photo sessions. I love this place for its numerous picture backdrops!

On the day of their session I was prepared to have a fun time with these two. Texting and several phone conversations already made us feel comfortable with each other. I just had to convince them to be comfortable in front of my camera! I knew they were both a bit nervous about having their pictures taken but I reassured them they would be just fine. And they were. They couldn’t have been sweeter with one another. As their session rolled along I could see them beginning to relax more, enjoying this time together. Desiree really wanted this session to be special, to have their relationship captured through my camera and have these images displayed throughout their home. Jake was such a good sport, willing to go with whatever Desiree wanted. Have I mentioned how adorable these two are together?
